| History 21. Fallschirmjäger-Division |
On April 5th, 1945, an order declares the 21st Fallschirmjäger-Division formed with immediate effect. The division is intended to be raised in Noord-Holland. Personnel and equipment are to come from Fallschirmjäger replacement and training units already located in the region. This includes its parent formation, Brigade Gericke.
The military situation prevents the execution of this order. The formation process never progresses beyond the planning stage. No fully structured divisional organisation comes into existence. As a result, the Feldpostübersicht no longer lists a 21. Fallschirmjäger-Division. Instead, it refers to a Divisionskampfgruppe, also designated Division Gericke. This formation includes subordinated Kriegsmarine regiments.
