Special Forces in World War 2

The second world war wasn’t the first war Special and Specialised Forces were used. However, there was no continuation of any earlier Special Forces Unit when the Second World War started. The Germans were the first army that developed specialised forces for specific tasks in their future expansion plans. The Italians also had a very early and interesting view on the use of special forces in specialised theatres before the outbreak of World War 2. But most other countries were very reactive and only started with the development after the war had started. The British and especially their leader Winston Churchill were among the first Allied countries to recognise the importance of Special Forces. Other countries followed their lead in the years to come.
